EXActSpheres are spherical catalyst carriers that have a very narrow size distribution of just a few %. Using EXActSpheres as a commercial catalyst carrier, the catalytic material is evenly distributed in the reactor and hot spot formation is avoided as well as pressure drop lowered. In addition, attrition is very low making them very suitable as carrier for precious metal catalysts to avoid unwanted loss of the, literally, precious metal due to abrasion. EXActSpheres are available in various material, for example, silica, alumina, titania, and zirconia.
