This year’s “Golden Week” in Japan is exceptionally long with 10 consecutive holidays from April 29 till May 6.

The regular holidays of “Golden Week” are on April 29 (“Showa Day”) followed by the “Constitution Day” on May 3, the “Greenery Day” on May 4 and finally the “Children’s Day” on May 5 (that is observed on May 6 this year). Because of the ascension to the throne of the new emperor on May 1, there will be an additional one-off public holiday on this day. According to the Japanese law, a working day in between two public holidays also turns into a holiday. Therefore, also April 30 and May 2 will be public holidays this year.

Many companies are closing in this week and employees taking their (rare) vacation days. The office of San-Ten Consulting will also be closed on these days, however, individual consultants may be reached directly on some of these days.
